Trip Report of  Birding Trip to Corbett, Pangot and Sattal - Johnny ( Scandinavia )

Sorry for late answer. Have been very busy since we came home.

Over all we had two fantastic weeks in India. All arrangements work out well and we experienced a lot. 

Namaste Dwar was a great hotel, even if the surroundings was not. 

Haiderpur Wetlands tour turned out to be something different and better than we had expected. We thought that we should be looking for ducks and egrets in a marsh. First we went into high vegetation looking for the grass bird and then a boat trip on the Ganges. That was fantastic with the dolphins, gharials and lots lots of birds. And as a bonus a great cultural experience which especially pleased the ladies.

Jim Corbett and the surroundings there worked out well. JP did a good job. We saw tiger three times and the birding was great. Ibisbill, forktails and lots of others.
Srina villas was a nice place, but we had some problems with the staff having little knowledge in English. The food was good but we got almost the same every meal, even if we tried to get some different. With that said it was a good place to stay at, but they should train or hire somebody who is better in English.

Pangot was a nice place. Nice place we stayed in. Simple but nice with very good food. Deepak turned out to be a very good guide. We found all the pheasants and had great views over the Himalayas in the morning. Problems with very heavy fog in the afternoons but that seems to depend on the season. 

Sattal was nice and we had a great morning walk there. Afternoon at a little river gave brown dipper which very much pleased Bo. It was one of his most wanted. 

On the way back we had a new stop at the Ganges. We got a glimpse of a religious celebration walking over the bridge. That made the day for Anna, she is a former teacher in Religion

Another stop on the highway gave Sarus Crane.

Overall all the trip worked out well. All your arrangements were perfect. We saw tiger, elephant and a lot of other mammals. The total of birds was 220, a little less than we had hoped. I think we were a little early in the season and especially thrushes and warblers remained on higher altitude. We had expected more raptors, but to species of vultures was a bonus. Even if the total number of birds was a little low, we saw most of the most wanted species.

Again thank you for all your arrangements. They met all our expectations.

We are already looking forward to visit India again.
