JIM CORBETT
About Jim Corbett National Park

Nestled in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, Corbett is a landscape of rolling hills, riverine belts, dense Sal and mixed deciduous forests, grasslands, and ravines carved by the Ramganga River. It is India’s oldest national park and a sanctuary for tigers, elephants, leopards, and gharials. The picturesque Dhikala grasslands are a highlight, offering sweeping views of grazing deer and bird-rich wetlands. Corbett’s mosaic of habitats ensures one of the richest biodiversity zones in the subcontinent.

India’s first national park, Jim Corbett, is famous for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers. Leopards, jungle cats, fishing cats, and leopard cats also roam its forests. Large herbivores include wild elephants, sambar, chital, hog deer, and goral. The park has an excellent variety of reptiles, particularly gharials, crocodiles, and king cobras. Corbett is a birder’s paradise with more than 600 bird species, including the great hornbill, crested serpent eagle, changeable hawk-eagle, red junglefowl, and migratory waterbirds like osprey, ruddy shelduck, and pochards in winter.
