The Indian Courser, a bird that is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent, has been uplisted from Least Concern to Near Threatened. Other species such as the Indian Roller and the Rufous-tailed Lark have also been uplisted to Near Threatened, while the Long-billed Grasshopper-warbler has been categorized as Endangered.
 

Rare yellow-throated marten spotted in Kaziranga, boosting Assam's biodiversity profile. A new species of marten has been recorded in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, highlighting the rich biodiversity of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the success of ongoing conservation efforts in the state.

Eurasian Otter, thought to be lost since last 25-30 years from the lakes and rivers of Kashmir, has been sighted once again in Kashmir. This year, the otter has been seen three times. In May, one appeared in Gurez Valley. Later, another was spotted in Heerpora, Shopian district. Now, with the recent sighting in Lidder, hope grows for their return.

Manas National Park has added another cat species in its long list. Rare and elusive Asiatic Golden Cat has been rediscovered in Manas National Park recently.

•  - First ever sighting in India of High Altitude dwelling Rare Chinese Rose Windmill Butterfly in the North East State of Arunachal Pradesh.
•  - A new species of Butterfly- The Sahyadri Spotted Flitter, discovered in the Biodiversity hotspot of Western Ghats in the State of Kerala.

Rare black wild dog (Dhole) spotted in Sahyadri Tiger reserve after 90 years. The last documented sighting of a melanistic dhole was back in 1936 near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. British naturalist R.C. Morris had recorded it then.

Long billed bush warbler, highly elusive bird has been sighted after a gap of 46 long year in Ladakh. The bird was found in a willow amidst terraced ?elds in Kargil's Suru Valley. It’s the ?rst time it has been seen on a willow, which will now be added to its known habitats.

India's First Hornbill Conservation Centre to Come up at Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu.The facility will focus on four hornbill species native to the Western Ghats - the Great Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, and Indian Grey Hornbill.

A professor from the Zoology department of Mizoram University (MZU), along with his research scholar and co-researchers, discovered two new species of bent-toed geckos (Cyrtodactylus) in the northern Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The species have been named Cyrtodactylus himachalensis and Cyrtodactylus shivalikensis, after their regions of origin.
